“Olympic Lesson”

Цели урока:

-практический аспект- совершенствование умений практического владения учащимися английским языком по теме «Спорт и Олимпийские игры»

-образовательный аспект-расширение кругозора учащихся; развитие у них общих и специальных умений, позволяющих совершенствовать учебную деятельность по овладению английским языком;

-социокультурный аспект- расширение объема знаний учащихся об истории и традициях Олимпийских игр, истории древней Греции и традициях проведения современных Олимпийских игр;

- развивающий аспект- развитие: креативных способностей учащихся, способностей использовать английский язык при создании индивидуального проекта по теме,

-воспитательный аспект- стимулирование учащихся к самостоятельной работе, развитие умений работать в коллективе и принимать совместные решения.

Задачи урока:

-обобщить пройденную информацию по теме «Спорт и Олимпийские игры»;

-совершенствовать коммуникативные умения учащихся;

-совершенствовать умения аудирования с целью получения необходимой информации;

-развивать умения учащихся составлять устное монологическое высказывание в соответствии с заданной ситуацией общения;

Оборудование:

-флипчарт;

-раздаточный материал;

-слайд с Олимпийской символикой;

-слайд с названиями видов спорта;

-картинки с изображениями различных видов спорта;

-презентация города Сочи

Ход урока

I.Оргмомент

На интерактивной доске представлен слайд с Олимпийской символикой (Приложение 1).

Teacher (T): Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I am glad to see you.

Pupils (P): Good afternoon, teacher. We are glad to see you too.

T: Today’s lesson will be merry and serious at the same time. We’ll try to generalize your knowledge on Olympic Games (OG), find out and learn something new.

II. Warming up (Речевая зарядка)

T: To begin with, I’d like to ask you some questions.

1. Where and when were the first ancient OG held? (P: 776 BC, Island Crete)

2. What was the aim of the OG? (P: The aim was peace period when all the wars stopped)

3. Who took part in OG? (P: Only men could take part in OG)

III. Auding (аудирование)

T: Repeat after me the new words, which will help you to understand the text properly.

Olympic Games

Olympic Games have long history. They started in 776
ВС m Greece and took place every four years for nearly twelve centuries at Olympia. They included many different kinds of
sports. All the cities in Greece sent their best athletes to Olympia to compete in the Games. (When the Games took place, all
the wars stopped. So, the Olympic Games became the symbol
of peace and friendship.

Now, there are Summer and Winter Olympic Games. They
are held separately. There are always several cities wishing to
host the Games. The International Committee of Olympic
Games selects the most suitable. Thousand of athletes, journalists and guests
arrive to the Games and it takes great efforts to arrange everything.

Russia joined the Olympic movement in 1952. In 1980, Moscow hosted the twenty-second Olympic Games. Our sportsmen won medals in many sports. The latest Olympic Games took place in
Greece, the Motherland of these games.

T: What kinds of sports do you know? Very well. Let’s see what kinds of sports are included in modern OG. Look at the pictures and guess what is what.

T: Say, what kinds of sports and games are the most popular among the pupils and children in our city?

V. Review on Sochi.

На интерактивной доске – слайд с изображением г. Сочи (Приложение 5).

T: Look and say what is particular (unusual) about this picture?

Pupils guess their native town Sochi and speak on topic Sochi in brief.

Во время беседы о Сочи на интерактивной доске представляется презентация родного города.

T: Have there ever been OG in Sochi?

Would you like them to be held? Why?

When are they to be held?

How would you like your town to be prepared? What should the town develop first?

P: The host city should start its preparations for the competitions, construct new sport facilities, or reconstruct them, reconstruct stadiums, hotels, press centres, etc.

VI. Home Work. Creating a project “What should I do to help my native city in OG”.

T: Imagine you are a mayor of our town. What would you do to help your native city to improve the situation in your area for the OG?
